What’s really “BUGGING” us? The Buzz about Parasites in Americans

What is really bugging us has become a dominant health problem in the U.S. Many believe it has reached epidemic proportions. What it is may come as a surprise to most people living in our modem American culture. What could very well be bugging you are PARASITES or more commonly known as WORMS. Yes, in fact, according to a United Nations data: “Overall, about 1.5 billion people are infected with Roundworms, making it the third most common human infection in the world. Whipworm infects 1 billion people... More than 1.3 billion people carry hookworm in their gut, and 265 million people are infected with schistosomes. (Worms that parasitize the blood vessels and cause blood loss and tissue damage.)” That may sound like a remote world statistic, but consider that some of these parasites have made recent headlines in the U.S-like the 1993 outbreak of CRYPTOSPORIDIUM in the Milwaukee water supply that made 400,000 people ill, and Killed 40.

Another parasite, GIAEDIA LAMBLLIA, has been estimated by the Center for Disease control to affect between 100,000 and 1 million people each year.

Parasite contamination was found in one out of every four municipal water supplies in 14 states. In fact, Cryptosporidium was featured on ABC news that it had invaded New York City’s water supply in 1994.

The Parasitology Department of the University of Cambridge, England concluded that... “Pinworm, an extremely common nematode infection, particularly in temperate areas such as Western Europe and North America, has been estimated that the annual incidence of infection is over 200 million in the USA and Canada, with similar levels in Europe.”

According to experts “over half of all Americans will at some point in their lives become hosts to parasites.” Move over SARS!

Parasites are something of a silent epidemic because it is likely to go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Humans play host to more than a hundred different types of parasites ranging from microscopic types to tapeworms that are several feet long. They are sneaky and sometimes difficult to detect. They hide in the intestinal lining and they live in almost any organ of the body including the lungs, liver, muscles, joints, brain, heart, blood, skin and
even the eyes! The common stool test may easily miss a parasitic infection because the parasites most prevalent in the US shed at irregular intervals and its presence may not be detected with just one day of stool testing. If the parasites are in the heart or lungs, a stool test will never detect the presence of parasites. Another difficulty with parasite detection is the fact that there are newly identified parasites that have not been sufficiently studied or recognized as pathogenic. The field of parasitology is evolving and continuously making discoveries of “new bugs”.

How do these CRITTERS threaten human health? They can injure the tissue of the digestive tract and other organs. The parasite waste disrupts the digestive process of the host, interferes with enzyme production and food breakdown. They create a mucous overlay in the intestines which blocks absorption of nutrients. This creates a disruption in a properly functioning digestive system and a disruption in good health.

Parasites affect tissue anywhere in the body. Some disorders that have been associated with parasites include, arthritis, overweight and under weight conditions, cancer, and epilepsy.

What are some symptoms of parasite infection?

Some signs and symptoms are commonly overlooked as a parasite infection and they include the following:

CONSTIPATION                                 SLEEP DISTURBANCES
DIARRHEA                                        ALLERGY
GAS & BLOATING                             SKIN CONDITIONS
ANEMIA                                            IMMUNE DYSFUNCTION
JOINT/MUSCLE PAIN                         CHRONIC FATIGUE

It is important to bear in mind that parasites can mimic other disorders and be produce no noticeable symptoms.

How the heck do you GET parasites?

By now you may begin to see that parasites are not just limited to remote areas of the world. They are easily transported to the host through any of the following sources:

-                      Raw Fruits and Vegetables
-                      Raw or rare meats
-       Polluted water/tap water
-                      Pets
-                      Inhaled through the nose
-                      Camping
-                      Through the skin
-                      Mosquitos

Another factor that contributes to the growing parasite epidemic is the widespread use of drugs that suppress immunity as a side effect. Many common drugs are immunosuppressive and therefore increase the
susceptibility to parasitic infection.

External factors contribute to the parasite problem, but by far the biggest factor is an internal one- a stagnant, overloaded, bacterial imbalance of the colon. (Also called the intestines) External hygiene is as important as internal hygiene. The secret to great health is a cleansed body...inside and out. Internal cleansing must begin with the colon, because if this region is unclean, it will contaminate every other part of the body.

Cleanse your body!

Eliminating parasites are not an easy task, but can begin through a cleansing program. Eating well, drinking mostly water and avoiding drug overuse is a start.

Colon hydrotherapy can effectively and safely assist in cleansing the colon. The state of the art equipment now available in colon hydrotherapy makes keeping your body in the best of health easy. The importance of colon hydrotherapy can best be summed up in the words of Dr. Paul Bragg, on the “fathers” of alternative medicine in the U.S.

“The secret to great health can be described in three words: CLEANSE YOUR BODY! Engrave these three words permanently in your memory.~~

Cut The Carbs!

Now there is another reason to CUT CARBS! Cutting your CARBS (Carbon Dioxide emissions) will help save the planet from Global Warming! Global Warming is the greatest environmental threat that humans have ever faced. And we the people are to blame. GLOBAL WARMING!

A POLITICAL DEBATE?
Scientists are no longer debating the facts of climate change. In Feb. 2007 thousands of scientific experts (known as the INTERGOVERMENTAL PANEL ON CLIMATE CHANGE. ..IPCC)
concluded that there is greater than 90% likelihood that PEOPLE are causing Global Warming.
The AMERICAN GEOPHYSICAL UNIONan organization of over 41,000 Earth & Space Scientists concluded in this position on climate change:" natural influences cannot explain the rapid increase in global near surface temperatures observed during the 2nd half of the 20th century".

WHAT IS GLOBAL WARMING?
Before the Industrial age- the amount of Carbon Dioxide (C02), Methane, Nitrous Oxide and other greenhouse gases released in the atmosphere were in a rough balance. The natural emissions of heat trapping gases matched what could be store or absorbed by the atmosphere. The problem is, WE (people) all over the planet, have greatly increased the amount of C02 and other gas emissions, because we are BURNING things like Fossil Fuels and Forests. The gases are building beyond the earth's capability to remove them, and, in effect, creating a heat blanket around the earth. This is really heating things up - over the last 30 years the earth's average temperature has warmed by a full 1 degree. One degree doesn't sound like much, but in the last millennium the Little Ice Age came about due to an increase of only 2 degrees. If we do nothing to stop this, our contributions of green house emissions will double its levels by 2050 and could arrive as early as 2035 if countries
such as China and India get on the CARB kick, as the US have done. James Hansen (NASA climate researcher) states that, "We have a very brief window of opportunity to deal with climate change ... no longer than a decade, at the most!"

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF WE DO NOTHING?
Rising Seas from melting polar ice caps will cause Massive floods allover the planet. The melting of the Greenland Ice Sheet would raise sea levels by as much as 23 feet. Plague, Drought, and killer storms as never before seen by humans will occur. 20 to 30% of all known species will face extinction. The economic market would be affected in ways that could devastate global economy.

WHAT CAN WE DO?
The task is monumental and far bigger than what one person can do alone. Just to keep greenhouse
gases at their present level will mean cutting our emissions by 60% Only a Global response can begin to tackle the magnitude of this pressing issue. It will take an Aggressive Sustained Commitment from each of us. Get started now. It's good for your health, its good for your wallet, and it's good for our planet.
1. COMMIT.
If one million people stand up to say "I can help stop global warming," we have taken the first
step.
2. STAY INFORMED. INFORM OTHERS.
There are hundreds of web sites that are strictly informational about Global Warming. There are also many web sites that guide us to inform others including our political leaders. Become proactive
and do something. Your help is just a click away. Type in GLOBAL WARMING, and get informed.
Information and facts are free.
3. Get your CARBON FOOTPRINT CALCULATED.
Everyone is part of the problem; the question is how much of a problem are you? There are hundreds
of websites to help measure the carbon footprint of your life. Knowing where you could cut back or even eliminate your emissions is a way to take action. Start at: www.epa.gov/climatechange/emissions/ind_calculator.htrnl.
Try other models and compare the results. This will be one of a three part series to inform you on what you can do to help change the Carbon footprint you contribute to global warming. Just like you, I am learning how to live in a manner that reduces my Carbon Footprint, and impact on our climate. Together, we can solve the climate crisis. Lets begin now. The Three big carbon ticket items in most of our lives are CARS ... PLANES ... and HOUSES.
4. DOWN SIZE IT
Americans have bitten off more than they can chew. We supersize everything from Burgers to SUV's to supersized Cribs (houses). Choosing big adds up fast. Smaller choices are always better for the planet and usually cost less too. Even our food choices add to our greenhouse effects.

FACT:
Factory farming Cows GAS (flatulence and burps) and manure (fertilizers for feed crops, deforestation for pasture, and energy to run meatpacking plants) add up to 18% of total emissions in the atmosphere. That is more emissions than from motor vehicles! (that's a lotta sh_t!) We only get one third of our protein from flesh, but devote nearly a third of our planet to raising it. One pound of meat requires eight-times as much energy to produce as one pound of veggie protein (like soy). This is yet another reason to cut down meat consumption.

5. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FARMER
Eat more organic foods grown from local farmers and green markets. Buying direct from farmers supports and strengthens rural economies, protects biodiversity, and fosters a sustainable earth. Big agriculture uses nitrogen fertilizers derived from natural gas, and creates emissions by the packaging, storage, and chemical needs of mass agricultural production.
6. COLON CLEANSE
Think about it: Since cows "rear emissions" are adding up big time to global warming ... what about our own Belches and Flatulence? One way to cut down your gas from too much belching and or flatulence is to have regular colon cleansing. Your colon is not much different from the earth and its capacity to handle toxins. But, like the earth, your colon is overloaded with toxins and could use some help eliminating the waste. Regular colon cleansing can help you eliminate some of that waste that is fermenting (methane) in your body.
Get A Gentle Cleanse and get rid of that C.R.A.P (caffeine, Refined Sugar, Alcohol, and
Pollutants) It's good for you and for the planet!
Begin implementing changes slowly Changing behaviors that have been established in a way of life can take three to six months or more. Taking small steps is best. Tell friends and family that you are cutting CARBS ... plus they can offer support and begin to cut CARBS as well. Remember, "A thousand mile journey begins with a single step". I believe that simple actions when applied on a global scale will have a massive impact on reducing global warming.

Elimination Is The Key!

Imagine not brushing your teeth for a month! What if you couldn’t take a shower for a few weeks?
You cleanse the outside, what about the inside? Think about where toxins are stored regularly inside your body. Waste is manufactured and gets ready to exit your body from your intestines, also known as the bowel, or colon. This is where your body takes in all outside sources of food, air and water. The colon is approximately 23 feet long and has no small job of producing and absorbing nutrients. It also must eliminate waste and take in precious water to hydrate all the cells of the entire body. Next to the common cold, “gastrointestinal” problems cause the highest percent of absenteeism from the workplace in the U.S. 35 million people suffer regularly from digestive disorders every year.

Imbalances in the colon create slowdowns in critical body systems. For many people the signs of colon dysfunction are so much a part of their everyday living that they may not suspect their health is in danger. For example: Indigestion is a common and almost acceptable part of eating and drinking.
However, indigestion creates acids in the lining of the esophagus and stomach, which induces “acid reflux.” The little “purple pill” (is the most prescribed medication in America) will not change the
imbalanced condition of the colon.

Constipation is another “way of life” endangerment to one’s health. Even some western doctors shrug off the patient who has trouble with regular bowel movement as to being “not a big deal”, and think nothing of suggesting laxatives or some brand of daily fiber to fix the problem. Unfortunately, constipation puts a huge burden on the entire digestive system, creates an internal bacterial imbalance, and strains all other systems of the body. Elimination is essential to keeping the body from becoming overloaded with toxins. Pouring fiber into the system won’t work, and often times complicate the matter. When the colon does not empty its waste in 18-24 hours, harmful toxins and antigens from undigested food become absorbed into the liver, lymph, and bloodstream. This results in autointoxication (self poisoning) and may play a major role in development of chronic life threatening diseases. Unfortunately, the average person has a transit time of 72 hours for waste elimination.

HOW CAN WE CLEANSE THE INSIDE?
One of the safest ways to cleanse your colon is through the use of “Colon Hydrotherapy”. Colon
hydrotherapy, also known as Colonic, infuses filtered and temperature controlled water into the rectum
and on into the large intestine. Modern FDA approved equipment varies in its style and sizes of tubes that are used to transport water, but all have the same purpose of cleansing the large intestine of
waste and hydrating the body.
Therapeutic affects include improved muscle tone, and removal of toxins and waste from the colon. All which greatly improve general health functioning of all vital systems. Recent European studies found that Colon Hydrotherapy boosts the immune system. The American Cancer Society suggests the increase in colon cancer is due to increased use of pesticides &; herbicides sprayed on crops, hormones and antibiotics fed to animals, and carcinogenic agents in the air, and water supply. It makes sense to cleanse away the accumulation of toxins from the body.
Colonics are not new. Although recently it has become popularized by outspoken Hollywood Celebrities, it has been used as early as Ancient Egyptian time. There are some writings of its use in
early Hindus, Greeks, Romans, and Chinese archives. More recently, the equipment used in colon
hydrotherapy has made it more accessible and easier for modern mainstream culture to apply its touted benefits.
Increased energy, improved skin appearance, weight management, and overall well being are just some of the benefits you can achieve through regular use of colon hydrotherapy.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET COLON
HYDROTHERAPY?
There is three schools of thought regarding how often to cleanse. One school of thought is the “Emergency”…so constipated or sick that there may not be another way! The second line of thought is “seasonal cleansing,” like a spring-cleaning. The third concept of cleansing is what I have found to create the BEST results. That is to initially cleanse with a series of colonics, which may be 6 to
12 sessions (within a week apart from each other)… Then…MAINTAIN. Your maintenance will depend on what keeps you feeling your best.
For me, colonics are part of my health maintenance of 2 times monthly. I exercise 3-4 days week,
I get my haircut and manicures regularly, I also have a facial every 4 to 6 weeks. I find that Maintenance is the way to keep your health and appearance its best.
I chose the most current equipment at A Gentle Cleanse initially for my own benefit. I like the fact
that I can do a colonic in complete privacy. The equipment that we have at A Gentle Cleanse is private and easy to use. The equipment uses disposable one time use, thin (thinner than a pencil) tube, which you will learn to insert yourself. (Older devices have large 1/2 to 1 inch wide speculums that another person needs to insert in to your rectum). The privacy helps you to relax and it also helps you to RELEASE.
It is important to note that your first few colonics are a strong ‘detox’ process and you may not feel so
hot. But, once you have your first 3 or 4 sessions, you will begin to really notice the difference in your
health.
This is not about a magic bullet health fad. This is maintenance for better health. Usually a session
takes approximately 1 hour, and you can go about your normal day without down time. Fasting prior to
a colonic at A Gentle Cleanse is not necessary and we only suggest that you have not eaten a huge meal 2 hours before your appointment.
Other than that, having a colonic can be as easy as your hair cut. The benefits however are much more than the outside beauty…Its health from the inside out!
